March - it's time for wild strawberries
In wild strawberries, the bulk of the roots is located in the upper layer, which should be loose, and the best way is to create a fertile layer and accelerate the fruiting of microorganisms of the microbiological preparation “Baikal EM-1”.
Long-term practice indicates that strawberries respond well to beneficial microflora - the yield and fruiting period are increased, the taste of berries and disease resistance are improved.
Despite the prevailing opinion about the capriciousness of strawberries, with EM technology, caring for it will not be difficult. In a couple of years it will not be necessary to change the place for growing strawberry bushes, due to the fact that they become small, sick and give a small crop. Experiments show that with Baikal EM-1, wild strawberries can produce a good crop in one place for up to 12 years.
If you have this berry crop, then as soon as the snow falls and the weather is warm, spray the plants with Baikal EM-1 1: 1000 solution from a fine spray for 3-4 days until the branches and leaves are completely wet. Treatment with EM-solution is carried out weekly, once a week, water the bed from a watering can, in the calculation of 2-3 liters of Baikal EM-1 working solution (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water) per 1 sq.m. To increase soil fertility, alternate watering from a watering can with watering with an extract from fresh EM compost. This will increase resistance to putrefactive infections. The award will then be large, sweet and very fragrant berries.
The rest period between the first and second fruiting of the repairing varieties is reduced by a month. After removing the first crop, the beds are abundantly shed with a solution of microbiological fertilizer "Baikal EM-1" (2 tbsp. L. Per bucket of water) and mulched. After 10 days, the treatment is repeated.
The plantation is necessarily mulched. Mulch is a good helper. It maintains optimal soil temperature, reduces the risk of incidence of gray rot. The day before picking the berries, it is good to spray with a solution of the drug (1 hour in 5 liters of water). This will allow them to better tolerate transportation and longer be stored.
If you do not have experience with this culture, then it's time to start! For a better yield of a berry plantation, you can lay a high bed. Place it from north to south, 0.5-1 m wide, the length of your choice. To do this, dig a trench, remove the top soil by 10-12 cm, clean it from weeds and roots and add, for example, to the left of the trench. The second layer, with a depth of half a bayonet bayonet, is folded to the right. In the resulting trench we add organic matter, weeds, plant debris, and cleanings, which we prepared in advance. All this is well moisturized with an EM solution of a concentration of 1: 100. After that, we fall asleep with a layer of earth, which was removed by the second, and we complete it with the upper layer. Again, water the resulting garden bed with 1: 100 EM solution and leave the garden to mature for 2-3 weeks. During this time, water it 2-3 times, not allowing the earth to dry. We remove germinating weeds by a cultivator. With the help of effective microorganisms, organic waste will decompose and become compost. In the process of decomposition, heat is released and the soil warms up.
If you grow berry seedlings yourself, then keep in mind that it will grow slowly, but this is not scary, since the second half of August is considered the best time for planting berry seedlings. We plant bushes in 2-3 rows. The distance between the strawberry bushes 10 - 15 cm, if it is thick, break through the excess. After a week, when the seedlings take root, start pouring with 1: 1000 EM solution.
Before the onset of winter, 2-3 such top dressings are enough. Also, do not forget to add ash by pouring it into the ridge or dissolving the ash in water, and water with the EM solution. If desired, winter rye can be sown on strawberries. It helps clean soil from pests. In June, cut off the beds with cut shoots. Using straw, we protect the harvest of berries from spoilage.
Spend the second treatment at the beginning of flowering with 1: 1000 EM solution.
With the use of EM preparations, strawberry harvesting will be earlier. After harvest, do not cut the leaves, but simply remove the old ones. If you remove the leaves completely, then next year the yield will decrease by a quarter! This is due to the fact that the growth of foliage coincides with the laying of buds for the next year.
