Astrologers call the arrowroot the talisman of Aquarius. It is claimed that this exquisite indoor plant stimulates people to search for new, unconventional solutions, and helps to look at old problems in a new way. Folk rumor ascribes to the arrowroot almost magical properties: a beneficial effect on the atmosphere of the house, emotional state, and health. It kind of absorbs the energy of aggression and prevents the pollution of housing with negative energy. In the evening, it calms up nerves that are inflamed, relieves stress, overwork and insomnia. And besides, the arrowroot is very beautiful.
Maranta (Maranta) - a genus of plants of the Marantov family, including about 40 species growing in tropical America.
Description of arrowroot
AtArrowroot, varieties "Fascinator" (Maranta leuconeura ‘Fascinator’), each of the oval leaves looks like it is painted by hand. In the middle, the leaves are dark green, light at the edges, or vice versa, and along the middle red vein there are zigzag stripes. At night, the leaves rise up and curl up, and in the morning with sunrise, straighten again.
Maranta plant is very tenacious. It puts up with coolness and heat, partial shade, but prefers high humidity, because it comes from tropical America. Under adverse conditions, the arrowroot drops its leaves, but when better times come, it resurrects again. On my window, this happened twice, when in winter the air temperature dropped to 6 ° C.
Care for white-veined morant at home
In general, the arrowroot feels good when the air temperature is within + 16..30 ° C. Loves the light, but not bright. In the sun, its thin leaves fade. It is better to water the arrowroot in the pan, but she will never refuse to spray on the leaves. So that the moisture does not evaporate longer, the soil in the pot is mulched with moss.
It is believed that the arrowroot at home does not bloom, but this is not so. But the flowers are inconspicuous, and this plant is valued for the beauty of the leaves, not the flowers.
We feed our arrowroot not so often: 1-2 times a month (more often - in the summer, less often - in the winter) with soluble complex fertilizers. By the way, it is very responsive to mushroom plums, that is, to the water remaining from washing forest mushrooms. I collect it with the remains of mushroom scraps in bottles, close it with a cork and, if necessary, feed flowers.
Maranta does not need to be formed, and when the plants begin to squeeze each other, I plant them, separating them from rhizomes. You can also propagate by cuttings, using shoots branched in the form of the Latin letter “V”. When transplanting, I use a light nutrient mixture consisting of equal parts of turf and leafy soil, humus and sand.
I cut off faded and dried leaves with scissors near the ground. And the arrowroot prettier, and pruning prompts her to release new shoots from the middle of the bush, making the plant even more magnificent and spectacular.
