Garden blueberry is a relatively new berry culture in the garden, and not every gardener grows it, but in vain. It can grow not only on fertile soil, but also on moist, swampy areas, that is, where usually fruit trees and berry crops almost never take root. In addition, it does not require particularly complicated care.

North country. Half tall. Easily adapts to various soils. The bushes are compact, 50-60 cm high, 140 cm in diameter. The berries are large. Productivity up to 2.2 kg per bush. One of the best varieties.
Spartacus. The variety is early ripe. The bush is 1.5-1.8 m high. The berries are large, with a wonderful sweet and sour taste, dense, with a dry margin. Requires good drainage and fertile soil.
Bluecrop. The variety is mid-season. Highly winter resistant, disease resistant, with a long harvest period. The bush is 1.2-1.5 m high. The fruits are medium-sized, sweet and sour.

Garden blueberry care
Due to the fact that the root system of blueberries is fibrous, they systematically loosen the soil to a shallow depth and add peat or vegetable humus or old sawdust with a layer of 10 cm.If the soil is dry or the summer is hot without rain, the blueberries are abundantly watered by sprinkling. During the flowering period, watering can only be done under the root.
Blueberries are fed 2 times per season.
The first dressing is carried out before flowering: 1 tablespoon of liquid potassium humate, sodium humate and fertilizer with trace elements in 10 l of water; consumption - 10-15 liters of solution per 1 plant.
The second top dressing is done while tying berries: 2 tablespoons of Yagodka fertilizer and 1 tablespoon of Ideal and Nursing fertilizers per 10 liters of water; consumption - 20 liters of solution per bush. The “breadwinner” can be replaced with a nitrophos (also 1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water).
The lack of nutrients in the soil is compensated by foliar top dressing before and after flowering: 1 tablespoon of potassium humate and sodium humate per 10 l of water.
Preventive pruning of blueberries is carried out from the 4-5th year. Dried, broken, diseased branches are removed. Subsequently, old branches are cut that do not give growth and almost do not bear fruit. Rejuvenated by root shoots.
