Sansevieria is rarely called an elegant houseplant. But it is precisely such an epithet that best describes the beauty of its leaves and the purity of lines. Dense rosettes made of wedge-shaped or wide-triangular leaves, similar to green flowers or elongated graceful tall leaves in the rare sods of the “mother-in-law's tongue” - sansevieria proposes to introduce the architecture of the silhouette into the interior, the beauty of absolute lines and shapes and strict restraint that will be appropriate in any room .

This is one of the most versatile plants, the plasticity of which in use in the design of rooms is largely associated with good adaptability to lighting of various intensities. Sansevieria can be put up even where the lighting is rather scarce, and it will not only not lose its attractiveness, but will also grow with the same intensity.

Where the beauty of each leaf is not the most important feature of the plant, sansevieria can really be grown very easily. But if you really want them to become the main decoration of the interior, you will have to pay a lot of attention to this culture.

In order to admire the variegated patterns and lines on the leaves of sansevieria, it is necessary to provide the plant with a much more stringent selection of growing conditions than for those plants whose leaf color does not matter. And first of all, this refers to the amount of light: variegated sansevieria are much more light-dependent than green leaves. They should be in conditions not darker than the dispersed mid-shade.

Pay attention to other parameters. For variegated plants, it is necessary to strictly select the containers, giving preference to low, but wide pots that are optimal for the corresponding rhizome growth characteristics.

The substrate that you use for planting sansevieria should also be carefully selected: light, loose soil mixtures with sand, for example, special mixtures for cacti that provide optimal moisture and root system health - the main guarantee that the leaves will be actively grow, will retain their beauty and decorative features.

Variegated leaves on sansevieria are formed only if there is a sufficient reserve in the soil of not only the basic elements, but also micronutrient fertilizers. Plant nutrition is applied almost all year round, with the exception of the winter months, once a month using a standard dose of fertilizer for succulents and cacti when watering.
